Wanderlust

Wanderlust settles in me like a too tight favorite jacket.  I’m excited about wearing it, but it pinches all the same.  School wraps up this week and the countdown begins.  With that comes intense anxiety.   Can I get everything done in time?  What will I forget?  I’m adding to and amending my packing list constantly.  That, I think is finally almost publishable!

On the other hand, my mind plays previews of roads not even traveled yet.  Open highways, mountain views, and quaint towns. My excitement can hardly be contained.  Jim watches lots of YouTube videos and travels Google Earth in preparation for the trip.  I think this is his mental meditation.

We have a destination and a few weeks ago we weren’t even sure we would be going any where. Originally we were to go to Michigan, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic we had to change gears.  Now we are Colorado bound!

In the past, travel took the form of short burst, several days to several weeks at a time.  This year we reserved a month at Riverview RV park in Loveland, Colorado where my daughter lives. We stayed 2 days there last year, so know pretty well what to expect. Of course even this causes that anxiety jacket to pinch again.

It’s the unknown that rubs at my nerves. It’s also the unknown that makes it exciting. I am reminded that the goal is not the destination, but the journey.

This is my first post in a long time. I find writing blog post time consuming and always seem to find excuses. Perhaps this year will be different. That being said, I would like to change the name of my blog site. 2bikes1boat served its purpose, but no more. I would like something that reflects our traveling ways, our sense of adventure and wonder. Ideas Welcome!

Wow, It’s Been A Long Time

I just got my confirmation that my WordPress site was being renewed.  At first, I thought that I should cancel it as it has been 7 months since I last posted a blog.  Life tends to get in the way!

What have I been doing since last here?  Photography!  Yes, I know, I posted pictures before when I was on here.  However, I have been taking an online course in Professional Photography from NYIP (New York Institute of Photography).  It has been very challenging and fun.

So instead of cancelling my blog site, I will use it to post some of my favorite photos.NYIP badge

End of the Year? Oh My!

I realized the other day that I haven’t posted in quite some time. Well spring break and summer are just around the corner and The Traveling Wilbury’s (that’s us) will be hitting the road again. Gone is the sailboat. Drop, drop, tears hit the floor. However, never fear we have our land yacht and a plan!

Slacking on the Job

Riding at Long Key
Riding at Long Key

I realized tonight that I haven’t posted a blog in quite sometime.  I have so much to blog about our summer camping trips and yet I’ve been such a slacker.  I have to find a more efficient way of blogging while we are on our trips and emotions, thoughts and events are currently on our minds.  I recently purchased a new laptop with much better capabilities than my old one.  This is why I’m doing this blog right now – sort of a test run.  So far so good.  I will try to make a concerted effort to complete our review of campgrounds and restaurants from our summer trip.

We have mentioned Long Key and Curry Hammock.  I will try to blog about John Pennekamp, Collier Seminole, Kississimee State Park, Blue Springs and Anastasia.  We didn’t hit a lot of restaurants but I definitely want to address a couple.  Especially Pollo Tropical.

So this being a trial run, I’m moving on.  So far so good.  I also want to try adding a photo.  If that works, then I’m a happy blogger.

Blogging Education

I am really working hard at getting a blogging education.  Pressing buttons is the best way to really get to “know” your computer and it’s capabilities, so that’s what I did.  I scrolled, typed, pasted, you name it.  I think I’m starting to get a handle on how to set our blog page up.  I added our Flickr account as a link on the side bar.  This way if interested parties, and I’m hoping that’s you, want to check out our adventures visually, you can visit the site.  Simply click on the link and it will take you to the Flickr site.  Jim does a pretty good job of updating pictures on there.  Enjoy.

Now since this only took 3 hours to accomplish and work is just around the corner, I’m going to bed.  Until the next time.

Perhaps this weekend I’ll finally tell the tale of 3 reluctant bicycle campers and their adventure to Fanning Springs State Park.
